For my final verdict, I give Pokemon Sword and Shield 4 scoops out of 5. It’s a great Pokemon game and it brings me back to the days of Pokemon Red and Blue, but it could have been so much better with a few more years of development. All in all, it’s a solid Pokemon experience, and if you’re a fan of the series, I think you’ll find a lot to enjoy here. But it’s undeniable that this game has flaws, for instance, the graphics weren’t a huge improvement, especially for a console generation leap from the 3DS. We know for a fact the Nintendo Switch is capable of running games with much better graphics.

I just feel like past games had more memorable legendaries. The wild area also features a brand new mode to the game called Dynamax Raids.

Fans have waited decades to see how the RPG series would fare on a platform with more power, no longer held back by the constraints of a handheld netgear genie download – Pokemon Sword and Shield is that long-awaited evolution. But that’s gonna wrap it up with this G FUEL game review. Let us know your thoughts in the replies and don’t forget to share this on social media. Thanks again for watching, this has been Zach and I will see you guys on the next one. The graphic above is a ranking system used to rate video games and video games only.

My biggest gripe is the underutilisation of Dynamax throughout Sword and Shield. They emerge in Raid Battles and Gym encounters, occasions that are frequent enough that the mechanic feels thoroughly fleshed out, but restrictive in a way that Mega-Evolutions in previous games simply weren’t.

These are raids where multiple Pokemon trainers play together to defeat extremely large and powerful Pokemon in a turn-based cooperative raid. Hello, everyone, my name is Zach and today we beg the question of whether or not the new Pokemon Sword and Shield actually lives up to the hype in another G FUEL game review. Undeniably fun games – there’s two, Sword and Shield, in case you didn’t know – which show impressive progression in a title that has struggled to renew itself. Improvements include a greater variety of gameplay, exciting new Pokemon and the abandonment of boring grinding mechanics.

They’re awesome, and I ended up using some of them – like Sirfetch’d – for more or less the entirety of my playthrough. Even some weirder monsters, like Applin, ended up maintaining a spot in my team. I was always excited to see exactly which new Pokemon I might find every new route I entered. Catching a rare Pokemon at the end of Raids is more than worth it, though.

He joined the team in 2018 and has been reporting on games pretty well every day since – except on weekends, where he’s typically playing them instead. Despite being in a field ostensibly about critiquing and enjoying quality games, his most played game of 2019 was Fate/Grand Order – something unlikely to change in 2020 and beyond. Still, these are the first mainlinePokémongames to ever appear on a console. That’s a big win for everyone involved, and fans should be excited to see where the series takes them next.

I can’t help but feel some of these ideas aren’t being used to their full potential. Given how often Sword and Shield enjoys holding your hand through irksome tutorials, it’s best to push on until you’re given more control over everything after the first handful of gym encounters. This is a game designed for children and adults alike, so the hand-holding makes sense to a degree, but cripples the pacing in a way that makes certain aspects a slog. A fully-fledged console iteration of Game Freak’s Pokemon series has been a long time coming.

This game doesn’t take many risks, but I would say it is a solid Pokemon experience. So if you are a fan of the series, I think you will definitely like Sword and Shield. Now I’m personally not a huge fan of these legendaries but I can see why some people like them.
